Education Program | Building Self-Esteem
At Lee & Beulah Moor Children’s Home, we believe that academic success is key to building confidence, self-esteem, and a sense of accomplishment. When children excel in the classroom, they not only develop vital skills but also grow in their ability to believe in their potential and future success.
Children in our care—whether living in the residential foster homes or in foster care—are given access to a dynamic, results-oriented education program. Our team of staff members and volunteer tutors work closely with each child, providing individualized support in a well-equipped library space designed for learning. Older children are encouraged to mentor and assist younger children in areas like reading and math, fostering both academic growth and leadership.
The Education Department is focused on helping children achieve academic success by reaching their educational goals, including passing the State of Texas Assessment of Academic Readiness (STAAR) tests. Through tutoring, enrichment activities, and a nurturing environment, we aim to ignite a lifelong love of learning in every child.
A Thriving Tutoring Program
Our tutoring program has become a vibrant hub for students seeking help and guidance. In addition to academic support, it offers a safe space for children to share their stories and experiences with their tutors and mentors. We take pride in the hard work and dedication of our students and tutors, ensuring that every child has the support they need to thrive academically.
Students are encouraged to actively participate in extracurricular school activities and are expected to maintain high academic standards. Cottage parents and education staff work closely to monitor each child’s progress and support their educational journey.
Celebrating Achievements
The success of our Education Program is reflected in the outstanding achievements of the children in our care. In the 2024-2025 school year, seven students earned a place on the A Honor Roll, while 20 students achieved A/B Honor Roll recognition. Additionally, the three highest cottage GPAs were 86.0, 86.5, and 88.5, demonstrating the hard work and dedication of our students. These accomplishments highlight the commitment to academic excellence within our program and the bright future ahead for our children.
