Andrea’s Story – When One Door Closes, Another Opens
At just 16 years old, Andrea’s life was filled with unimaginable struggles.
Before coming to Lee & Beulah Moor Children’s Home, Andrea was homeless with nowhere to turn. Though her aunt took her in, the living conditions were harsh. Andrea often went hungry and was made to feel like a burden. Her aunt constantly reminded her how lucky she was to have a roof over her head, telling her that she’d have nothing if not for her aunt’s generosity.
Though Andrea had family in Chihuahua, she was determined to stay in the U.S., pursue an education, and learn to speak English. However, she couldn’t endure her aunt’s treatment any longer and left her aunt’s home. Heartbroken, Andrea feared she would never achieve her dreams of education and a better life. But fate had other plans.
A few months later, Andrea found out about Lee & Beulah Moor Children’s Home. She reached out to client services herself, and soon her prayers were answered. She was enrolled in the LBMCH program, where she has thrived ever since.
Today, Andrea has graduated from high school and is well on her way to building a bright future. Her dedication to her education has paid off—she is now fluent in English and continues to pursue her goals with determination. Andrea’s foster family remains an important part of her life. She says, “I feel fortunate to have the unconditional love, care, and support of people who were once total strangers.”
Andrea’s outlook on life is one of hope and resilience. She has found the strength within herself to overcome challenges and accomplish her dreams. She is incredibly grateful for the kind-hearted people who helped her along the way, and who opened their hearts and home to help her succeed.
