Paula’s Story – Communication is Key
When Paula first came to Lee & Beulah Moor Children’s Home, her family was homeless and living in a car.
Her adjustment to the program was smooth, and she quickly connected with staff and her cottage mates. Paula embraced her school assignments, asking for help whenever she needed it, and made noticeable progress in her education.
But, as with any trauma, progress isn’t always linear. Despite her initial success, Paula began to struggle. Her grades slipped, and her behavior changed. During a conversation with her caseworker, it became clear that Paula’s concern for her family’s well-being and the lack of communication with them was affecting her ability to focus.
Recognizing this need, the staff at Lee & Beulah Moor Children’s Home arranged a meeting with her family and facilitated therapy sessions to rebuild communication and address their concerns.
Today, Paula looks towards her future with hope. She worked hard to maintain her grades, and now she’s exploring different career paths. Paula is a shining example of resilience. With the support she received and the lessons she learned along the way, she is excited for what life has in store.
