Adventure Program
Over the past several years, adventure education has proven to create positive change in the lives of young people worldwide, and has become a core component of Lee & Beulah Moor Children’s Home’s program. The Adventure Program gives youth challenging experiences and the opportunity to make some of their own decisions as they backpack, rock climb, and participate in a ropes course. They are allowed to make choices and take chances in a protected and well-supervised environment as they explore group dynamics, leadership, and logistics. Adolescents discover joy and excitement in challenging their assumptions about life and make choices based on their findings. It is through this empirical process of making and revising choices that they discover who they are and what it means to be an adult.
Adventure-Based Activities
Lee & Beulah Moor Children’s Home offers a full range of adventure-based activities at the main campus and at Camp Leavell at Three Rivers, New Mexico. The main campus gymnasium is equipped with one of the few rock-climbing walls in the region. The “big swing” and “flying squirrel” apparatus offer thrills while encouraging children to overcome their fears and trust others. The facility also has a big-screen movie theater for weekly movie nights, complete with popcorn. Camp Leavell offers a certified ropes course. In addition, youth frequently participate in adventure-based trips to destinations throughout the Southwest.
